County planning department hosting meeting today on zoning bylaws

Huron County’s planning department is hosting an open house in the Clinton town hall today to look at possible changes to zoning bylaws.

Central Huron Mayor, Jim Ginn, says it’s open to businesses that can make it in during the day and there’s also a zoom meeting tonight.

“It’s open to businesses if they can come in today and then, tonight there’s a zoom meeting that they could qualify for and that’s been posted on the BIA web site. So we’ll see what the proposals come up with. This is just to get public feed back on some of the proposals from the planning department.”

Ginn says there are a number of proposals, one of them would allow some commercial zoning to be changed to residential, but this is in the very preliminary stages and the planning department is just looking for input on their proposals.

“There’s a number of issues and we’ll see where that goes. A lot our towns in Huron County are growing, so the questions becomes do we need to keep all of the store fronts that we have and because we’re growing, there may be more businesses in the future.”

Anyone wishing to sit in on the zoom meeting tonight can go to the BIA web site at https://cchbia.ca/.
