The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside Norfolk County emergency services responded to a house fire late Saturday night.
OPP said that firefighters arrived at a fully engulfed house on Robinson Street in Simcoe at approximately 11:47 p.m.
“Volunteers were able to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring home[s],” police said in a statement.
Two individuals were able to escape the blaze and were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but police reported that one person was located, dead inside the home.
The OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are continuing to investigate the incident.
