Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has announced new expansions coming for local schools in his riding.
In a release, Pettapiece revealed that Ontario is investing over 5.4 million dollars to build new student and childcare spaces in Listowel and Milverton. The Listowel Eastdale Elementary School is receiving 4.3 million in order to build a major addition that will house 98 new student spaces and 49 new childcare spaces. Milverton Public School is getting 1.1 million dollars to add 39 new childcare spaces to that building.
These investments are part of over 600 million dollars announced by the province to “support new school and childcare spaces.” The investment will support 78 school and childcare space additions across Ontario.
“Children and families will benefit from these projects,” says Pettapiece. “They will go a long way to address the need for modern school spaces and more affordable childcare spaces in rural areas like ours. I want to thank the Avon Maitland District School Board and the City of Stratford Children’s Services Division for successfully making the case. I am very pleased the government responded.”
“We are very pleased with the announcement that the Ministry of Education has approved our request for funds to move forward with additions at Listowel Eastdale Public School and Milverton Public School,” adds Lisa Walsh, Director of Education, Avon Maitland District School Board. “Both projects support our joint goal of expanding childcare and elementary school spaces in the Perth East and North Perth communities. Once complete, these spaces will help to better serve the families of Perth East and North Perth.”
