“I’ve known Larry and Marie for a long time and I’m not surprised that they continue to be incredibly generous and supportive of our hospital and community – it’s just who they are,” campaign chair Mark Foxton said in a news release.

According to the release, Gear retired in 2018 after 38 years in practice and has remained an advocate for the hospital, local healthcare and the Wingham community.

“I’m pleased to see the hospital prioritizing diagnostic imaging,” Gear is quoted in the release.

The foundation’s Caring Together campaign aims to raise at least $2.5 million to fund the purchase of a CT scanner, as well as the associated facility improvements needed to accommodate it, in order to make emergency care faster and safer. As of May 17, the campaign had raised $2 million.
