The city’s recreation department has introduced a new initiative called “Play in the Park” to help young people across London get active this summer.
Starting July 4 and continuing through the end of August, Play in the Park will be held regularly at public spaces throughout the city, providing free sporting opportunities for children, youth, and young adults.
“Play in the Park is committed to fostering a sense of community and creating opportunities for participants to make new friends and connect with their peers,” said a statement from the City of London.
Equipment will be provided for soccer, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, lawn darts, jumbo Jenga, ultimate frisbee, and more.
Play in the Park is a casual, unstructured program for people of all skill levels.
“Registration is not required,” the statement also confirmed. “Simply show up at the playground in the parks listed below and come play some sports!”
Children under the age of six must be accompanied by caregiver who is at least 14-years-old.
