Outdoor movie nights return to London parks in June

Grab the family, lawn chairs or a comfy blanket, and, of course, some snacks.

Outdoor summer movie nights return to London parks next month.

The City of London released the full movie scheduled on Wednesday. The list outlines what family-favourite movies will be shown at which neighbourhood park between June 16 and September 23.

“Our outdoor movie night series brings the community together to enjoy family-friendly favourites,” said Cheryl Smith, the city’s deputy city manager of neighbourhood and community-wide services. “After a successful run last year, and an overwhelming request to host these events again, we’re excited to bring the initiative back and offer Londoners 38 movie nights this summer.”

The free movie nights will be hosted by residents and neighbourhood-based groups and are free to attend. Each film will begin at dusk. Some of the titles being shown this year include sports comedy The Sandlot at Lorne Avenue Park on June 24, computer-animated adventure Spirit Untamed at Westbury Park on July 21, and sci-fi classic Back to the Future at Labatt Park on August 12. The full list of what’s playing when and where can be found at london.ca/outdoormovies.

City officials recommend anyone planning to attend bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and drinks to “complement” their viewing experience. Registration is not required to attend outdoor movie nights, the city added.
