Charges have been laid after a man was stabbed for refusing to give money to two strangers in east London.
The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. last Friday when a man walking along Dundas Street near Clarke Road was approached by a man and woman.
The couple asked the man for money. He refused and continued walking. The couple reportedly followed the man and assaulted him multiple times. They then began rummaging through t he man’s property. The two men soon got into a physical fight which saw the robbery victim stabbed several times, London police said.
The male suspect was also hurt during the altercation.
A witness who saw the robbery and attack called police.
Officers arrived on scene and arrested a 27-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from London.
The two men were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A knife and a set of brass knuckles were seized by police.
The 29-year-old man has since been charged with aggravated assault and robbery. The woman has been charged with assault and failure to comply with release order. The two accused are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
