Person bit by dog in Port Stanley park

Southwestern Public Health is looking for the owner of a Dachshund that bit someone at Little Creek Park earlier this month.

The incident happened midday on Sunday, May 7 near East Street and Old Field Lane in Port Stanley.

According to the health unit, a person was walking two Dachshund dogs when one of them escaped its leash and bit another person at the park.

The dog in question is described as small and short-haired with a solid brown coat – no spots or patches.

Southwestern Public Health is looking for the dog in order to confirm it has received its rabies vaccination.

“Identifying the dog and confirming its vaccination status allows the victim and their health care provider
to determine next steps related to rabies post-exposure prophylaxis,” the health unit said in a statement.

If you are the dog owner or have any tips about this incident, please contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask for Health Inspector Akhilesh Bhatt at extension 3546.
