Charges laid after transports collide on Highway 401 southwest of London

Injuries were non-life threatening after two transport trucks collided on Highway 401 southwest of London.

Emergency crews were called to the crash in the westbound lanes of the highway near Iona Road in Dutton-Dunwich around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

One of the trucks, which was hauling a load of vehicles, ended up on its roof in the grassy ditch.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the other transport truck was not hurt.

The crash shutdown the westbound lanes for a few hours as Elgin OPP investigated the cause and vehicles were removed from the scene. All lanes were reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

A 36-year-old from Tecumseh has been charged with careless driving.
