Vehicle hit with hammer, crashed into in south London road rage incident

An argument between two drivers in south London escalated over the weekend with one hitting the other’s vehicle with a hammer before intentionally crashing into it.

According to London police, the bizarre chain of events began when a van stopped abruptly on Sandringham Crescent Saturday nearly causing the vehicle that was following behind to crash. The two male drivers got into an argument over the incident.

During the dispute, the van driver walked over and began hitting the hood of the other man’s vehicle with a hammer. The other driver, who did not get out of his vehicle, drove away. The van driver then allegedly began following him and drove his van into the front of the man’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

The incident was witnessed by “multiple” people and was caught on video surveillance, police said.

A 42-year-old London man was arrested and has since been charged with possession of a weapon and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 19.
