JOAN MacKAY


Joan MacKay (née Courtney) of Ripley, beloved wife of the late John D. MacKay, passed away at Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton on Wednesday March 22, 2023, at the age of 88.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1934 in Kincardine, to the late Florence “Flora” (Campbell) and Arthur Courtney.
Greatly missed by her sons Ken of Toronto, Eoin (Lisa) of Ripley and Darryl (Lianne) of Pryor Oklahoma and daughter-in-law Debbie of Ripley. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Sarah (Jeremy), Rachel (Matt), John, Dan, Cailin (Steve), Jack and Claire and by eight great-grandchildren.
Also survived by her brother Mervyn (Gloria) Courtney, sister Shirley (Bob) Harris and sister-in-law Shirley Courtney.
Predeceased by son Brian, sister Evelyn (Grant) Rice and brother Lloyd Courtney.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at RVilla and to the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Owen Sound and Kincardine hospitals and Huron Shores Hospice.
A memorial service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Ripley at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, with visitation for one hour prior.
Interment Ripley Cemetery.
