Man accused of threatening people with knife at south London parking lot

An argument at a parking lot in the city’s southwest end escalted quickly after a London man allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened several people.

According to police, the incident happened at around 1:40 p.m. Saturday in the area of Commissioners Road West and Wonderland Road South, when two people were trying to leave the parking lot of a shopping plaza.

Police say two men got into an argument when one of them got out of his vehicle and tried to damage the other man’s vehicle. The passenger of the victim’s vehicle then exited the car and tried to stop the accused, which is when he reportedly produced a knife, threatening both the driver and passenger, as well as a bystander.

“The driver and passenger got back into their vehicle before calling police and attempting to leave the area,” read a statement from London police. “The accused drove his vehicle towards bystanders before police arrived and arrested the male on scene without incident.”

No injuries were reported and no bystanders were struck by the accused’s vehicle.

A 55-year-old London man has since been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and dangerous operation. He has since been released and is expected to appear in court on June 21.
