A 17-year-old driver has been charged after a collision that sent two pedestrians to hospital in Woodstock.
Woodstock police investigating the incident around 5 p.m. Thursday determined a 14-year-old and two 13-year-olds were crossing Dundas Street near Finkle Street when two of them were hit by a vehicle.
The two victims were taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old, has since been charged with dangerous driving.
Police are using the incident as a reminder to all drivers to be cautious and aware of pedestrians and cyclists, particularly as warmer weather has more people spending time outdoors.
“Keep an eye out for pedestrians getting in and out of vehicles parked on roads and walking between parked vehicles. Drive slowly through residential areas and school zones where children could be playing,” police said.
They also offered a few safety tips for those walking or cycling. They included to always walk on sidewalks when possible, not to cycle with headphones on, cross at designated crossings and intersections, and always obey street signs such as stop signs.
