‘Dad’s dime’ helps Glencoe woman uncover $250K lotto win

It was a dime Michelle Grover found when her father passed away.

Since then the Glencoe woman has hung on to the 10 cent coin, a move superstitious people might say helped lead her to a $250,000 lottery win. Grover recently claimed the top prize on an Instant Bonus Money ticket.

“I was using a dime that I found when my dad passed away to scratch my ticket. When I uncovered the win, I was too excited to play the rest of the game,” Grover said while picking up her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I started crying happy tears and ran to my mom’s house to share the big news. I couldn’t believe it.”

Grover plays the lottery every week with instant scratch tickets being her favourite. This is her first six-figure win.

“It’s really meaningful that I won on a ticket that I scratched with my ‘dad’s dime,’” she said.

Grover plans to use some of the money for her mortgage, save for her children’s education, build a new deck, and share with family.

The winning ticket was purchased at Bryan’s Variety on Mill Street in Glencoe.
