The co-founder of Blue Bayfield says they’re working with several community partners on a very special celebration of Earth Day on April 22.
Ray Letheran says volunteers will meet for the village cleanup at 10:30 a.m. in Clan Gregor Square. And at 2 p.m. there will be an Earth Day Celebration at St. Andrews Church in Bayfield and the keynote speaker will be Alexandra Ho.
“So she is currently a student in environmental studies at the University of Waterloo, and focuses especially on the impact of climate change on young people. And that’s something we often forget is that kids are dramatically affected by this,” said Letheran.
Preceding that is an organized hike.
“So we’ll have an organized hike by the Trail Association, by a knowledgeable person, who’s going to take people on a walk around the trails and explain the impact climate change and human behaviour is having on watersheds,” Letheran added.
Letheran says later in the afternoon they’ll have several events for kids at Pioneer Park based on Earth science. A complete schedule of events for the Earth Day Celebration on April 22 can be found on the Blue Bayfield web site.
