A teen boy accused of threatening, assaulting and stealing a woman’s car faces a long list of serious charges.
According to London police, officers were initially called Sunday afternoon about a missing person and threats investigation involving a 15-year-old boy on Dearness Drive.
While officers began their probe into that incident, the teen had made his way over to a business on Ernest Avenue and Southdale Road, where he allegedly made threats towards and assaulted a woman in the parking lot outside the Rexall Drug Store.
Police say the youth began to jump on the roof of the woman’s parked vehicle, damaging the windshield. Afterwards, he is said to have climbed into the driver’s seat, attempting to drive the vehicle away when he struck a truck parked in the lot.
Investigators claim the frenzied teen then drove the vehicle on to Southdale towards Ernest, but crashed into a tree, and a parked pickup truck on Ernest Avenue. Ran away from the damaged car, but was arrested by police a short time later on Jalna Boulevard east of Ernest.
The victim sustained minor injuries from the ordeal. Police say a total of $38,000 in damages were sustained.
As a result, the 15-year-old London boy, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with:
• Two counts of uttering threats of death or bodily harm
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Mischief over $5,000
• Dangerous operation of a vehicle
• Two counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident
• Theft of motor vehicle
The accused was expected to make his second court appearance on Tuesday.
