Pair arrested in east London weapons incident

London police say two people were taken into custody after a weapons investigation in the city’s east end Thursday.

Police officials say officers responded to an area on King Street between Adelaide and Lyle Streets at around 2:30 p.m. for reports of an individual with a weapon at a residential building on the north side of King Street.

Early reports from police indicated no injuries were reported, but the public was asked to avoid the area while police remained for the probe. Surrounding streets in the area were closed to vehicular and foot traffic while the investigation continued.

At around 4:45 p.m., two unidentified adults were arrested, police say.

No other details have been provided. Police remain in the area as the investigation remains ongoing.
