More details have been released regarding the “potentially hazardous” materials that were found at a south London residence.
The discovery was made Wednesday after police were called to the home for a disturbance. While at the scene, some strange equipment and materials were noticed by officers, prompting them to call in the local fire department for investigation.
On Thursday afternoon, police and fire officials remained in the area of Commissioners Road East and Huntington Drive.
“A preliminary search of the residence in relation to public safety concerns revealed hazardous materials and equipment that has led investigators to believe that there is a cannabis extraction laboratory located at the home,” said a statement from the London Police Service (LPS).
London officers are joined by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team, OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, the London Fire Department, and the Ontario Fire Marshal Office in the continuing probe.
One eastbound lane on Commissioners Road East has been closed to traffic and LPS says there will be an increased police presence in the area until further notice.
