Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU) has added more members to its ranks, thanks to a partnership with a London-based credit union.
Health Care Credit Union (HCCU) will join WFCU in an asset purchase that will close by this summer. Members of HCCU attending its annual general meeting on March 20 voted unanimously to send the deal through. Once that happens, HCCU will operate as Healthcare – A Division of WFCU Credit Union.
“I would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the HCCU membership and leadership team for putting your trust in our partnership,” said WFCU President and CEO Eddie Francis. “Our shared purpose means we can scale our healthcare offering faster, providing added products, service, and convenience to healthcare professionals, workers, and support staff across Ontario.”
WFCU has over 65,000 members across Ontario, making it the sixth-largest credit union in the province. HCCU has 2,100 members working in health care in the London-Middlesex area.
“Aligning our operations with WFCU allows us to provide better opportunities for our members with immediate access to a greater variety of product and service offerings,” said HCCU President and CEO Jolanta Swiatek. “In addition, our employees are being offered roles consistent with those they have today, as well as improved access to career growth and training. Both WFCU and HCCU possess strong community values and a desire to grow and expand in their service to the healthcare community, providing exemplary support and service for our present membership and those who will join us in the future.”
Once the deal is closed in June, WFCU will operate 14 branches, with nine in Windsor-Essex, one in London, and three in Kitchener-Waterloo. WFCU also operates Omnia Direct, a digital entity.
