Arrest made after ‘random’ stabbing in downtown London

London police have taken a suspect into custody after a man was stabbed at a train crossing in the downtown core.

The broad-daylight attack, which police believed to be “random in nature,” happened near the intersection of Richmond Street and Piccadilly Street around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police allege the victim was sitting in the driver’s side of his vehicle when an unknown person entered, stabbed the motorist, and then fled the area.

The victim was taken to hospital with critical injuries after the incident. No further updates were provided on the man’s condition.

On Wednesday afternoon, police announced that an arrest had been made in connection to the incident. No other details were immediately available.

“The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available,” read a statement from the London Police Service (LPS).
