Busing sporadic for Clinton area student

The mother of a sixteen-year-old grade eleven student at Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton says she’s become extremely frustrated with the school bus situation in her area.

Carlene Lane says her son has missed well over twenty days of school since January and he’s even talked about quitting school because he can’t get there. Lane says she’s sent messages to Premier Doug Ford, MPP Lisa Thompson and to Murphy Bus Line but hasn’t received any replies.

“And I understand there’s rules, like the public school bus, they can’t put high school kids on it. Which is infuriating because the public school bus comes by and your kids sitting at home. Maybe we need to look at letting the high school kids ride with the public school kids until we can get this straightened out” said Lane.

Lane says at this point the only place their getting support is from the school.

“The school is working with us. The days that I can get him there they’re given him extra help whenever he wants it. They’re just a phone call away. They’re doing the best they can with us and the other kids because it’s not just my son. There are a lot of children being affected by this right now.”

Cane adds, it might be too late to save this year, but she’d like to have some reason to believe the problem will be resolved by next September.
