Owen Sound police have asked the public to avoid the area around 4th Avenue East and 8th Street East as emergency crews respond to a “major accident” that led to a gas leak.
The collision happened sometime around 4 p.m. on Saturday. Police tweeted an image from the scene of the crash, and it appears that two passenger vehicles were involved and both wound up on the lawn of a residence at 795 4th Avenue East.
Injuries are unknown at this time.
The cause and source of the gas leak is also unclear, however, police say Enbridge is on their way to the scene.
Police advise that 8th Street East is closed from 5th Avenue East to 3rd Avenue East, and that 4th Avenue east is closed from 9th Street East to 7th Street East as crews respond to the incident.
