Over 600 municipal workers in London made $100,000 or more last year.
A report heading to the corporate services committee next week states 622 city workers made it onto the so-called Sunshine list in 2022. That is 42 more public sector workers earning six-figure salaries than the previous year.
The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act Report does not include the names or salary details of the top earners with the city, but does break them down by different city service areas. Of the 622 staffers on the list, 322 are members of the London Professional Fire Fighters Association (LPFFA), 279 are city hall managers, 19 are unionized employees, and two are employees of RBC Place.
London police officers are not included in this report, as their salaries are reported through the police services board.
The city is required under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act to publicly report any worker whose salary and taxable benefits total at least $100,000 in a calendar year. An employee’s salary can include amounts paid for acting pay, overtime, retroactive payments, settlements or vacation. Taxable benefits include amounts for items such as life insurance, parking, and vehicle allowances.
The reporting threshold of anyone earning $100,000 or more has not been adjusted since the act was introduced in 1996.
