2023 Stratford Business Leader named

The Stratford and District Chamber of Commerce has honoured Don McDougall as the 2023 Business Leader Award Recipient.

McDougall has a long list of accomplishments, such as owning Novatronics, which has ties to the Canadarm. He helped bring the University of Waterloo campus to Stratford, and assisted in bringing the RBC Data Centre to Stratford

The board said nationally, McDougall’s accomplishments include being the youngest president of Labatt’s Brewing in London and chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island. His leadership also brought the Toronto Blue Jays into existence in 1977, and brought F1 racing to Montreal.

McDougal has multiple inductions into various halls of fame, including the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Marys.

McDougall has served on multiple community boards like the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus Advisory Board, Stratford Festival board, and the Advisory Board of Ivey Business School.

McDougall will receive his Business Leader of the Year award at the 27th annual Business Excellence Awards gala May 4, 2023, at the Best Western Arden Park hotel. He will also be guest speaker.

The Business Leader is decided on by the Chamber Board of Directors and is a three-step secret ballot process. Nominations are put forth then a list is curated. Then the secret ballots are cast.
