There will be a lot of things blowing around across southern Ontario Wednesday.
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Elgin, and Norfolk Counties. Forecasters say unseasonably mild temperatures are creating windy conditions.
Wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour are possible in some areas but are expected to weaken later in the afternoon.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” read the warning from Environment Canada. “Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Utility outages may occur. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy shelters.”
A special weather statement remains in effect for the rest of southwestern Ontario, with wind gusts reaching 80 kilometres per hour.
Temperatures are expected to drop late Wednesday evening, with single-digit highs on Thursday.
