Forest City Dodgeball Tournament returns this weekend

The Forest City Invitational Dodgeball Tournament returns this weekend for the first time since 2020, bringing some of Ontario’s best players to the city of London.

The event is being hosted by the London Dodgeball League (LDL) on January 28 and 29 at Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School.

Both recreational and competitive players will compete in this weekend’s tournament. There will be 12 men’s teams, six women’s teams, and 19 coed teams travelling to London from across the province for what is one of Canada’s best-known dodgeball tournaments.

LDL says there is plenty of room for spectators to come and see the action. Admission will be free to the public.

“It’s great to be hosting the Forest City Invitational Dodgeball Tournament again after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic,” said Dick Price, who co-coordinated the event. “Dodgeball is an exciting sport that’s growing every year and we hope events like this help spread the word and encourage others to try it, as well as give competitive teams a chance to warm up before the Dodgeball Ontario Provincial Championship.”

The Forest City Invitational Dodgeball Tournament offers cash prizes to help athletes who plan to attend the provincial championships in Kingston next month, as well as those who want to compete in Dodgeball Canada’s National Championships in Montreal this April.

Michelle Dermott, who represented Canada at the 2022 World Championships as part of the Women’s Cloth Team, is one of many elite dodgeball players who will be in attendance this weekend.

“Tournaments like the Forest City Invitational is a great way to improve my skills and compete against some of the best athletes in the province,” Dermott said.
