The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has finalized its budget for 2023.
It was approved at the town council meeting held on January 5, but won’t be formally passed until February 7.
By approving the budget so early, town staff have the advantage of planning the year ahead by seeking out the best available pricing for operating and infrastructure contracts.
The total tax levy required to support the 2023 operating and capital budgets is $11,697,213, which can be broken down as follows:
-Operating budget $ 6,328,333
-Capital program $ 3,055,770
-Policing $ 2,313,110
This translates to an annual increase of $35.94 for an average assessed residential property of $211,000.
The 2023 capital budget consists of 42 projects for a total value of $6,617,650,
“The 2023 operating and capital budgets reflect an effort to deliver a fiscally responsible operating budget, balancing affordability for taxpayers, while delivering services at levels Town of South Bruce residents expect,” a statement from the municipality said.
