Pierzchala was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, December 27 while responding to a call about a vehicle in the ditch near Hagersville. He had been an OPP officer for just over a year. OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique told reporters Pierzchala had just completed his probation with the OPP on the day of his death.
A procession was held on December 30 from the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto to the City of Barrie.
A book of condolences is posted on the OPP website.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by Holy Spirit Parish in Barrie.
