Damage pegged over $500K following Thorndale house fire

Seven people, including three children, have been displaced by a serious house fire outside of London.

Firefighters with the Thames Centre Fire Department were called to the blaze on Rebecca Road west of Nissouri Road Tuesday night. According to fire officials, no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Tanker trucks from the Dorchester Fire Station were brought in to help battle the fire, which kept crews on scene until after midnight.

Damage is estimated at more than $500,000.

Four adults and three children, who live at the home, were not allowed back inside due to the significant damage and have had to seek alternative shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not considered to be suspicious. A fire investigator is expected to be on scene throughout the day Wednesday.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has also been notified.
