Home sales decline in Grey Bruce

A downward trend in home sales continues in the Grey Bruce Owen Sound area.

The Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound saw a sharp 49 per cent decline in sales last month compared to November of 2021.

The 127 units  sold in November 2022, brings the total number of home sales so far this year to 2,259 , down 32.6 per cent from the same period in 2021.

The MLS Home Price Index composite benchmark price for all types of homes was $564,100 in November 2022, a modest gain of 2.1 per cent compared to November 2021.

“The benchmark price for single-family homes was $569,900, up modestly by 2.3 per cent on a year-over-year basis in November. By comparison, the benchmark price for townhouse/row units was $506,400, a minor decrease of 3 per cent compared to a year earlier, while the benchmark apartment price was $369,800, a gain of 8.9 per cent from year-ago levels,” according to the realtors association.

The number of new listings was up by 20.9 per cent from November 2021. There were 283 new residential listings in November 2022. This was the largest number of new listings added in the month of November in more than five years. New listings were 11.9 per cent above the five-year average and 13 per cent above the 10-year average for the month of November.
