Hospital staff including nurses, personal support workers, cleaners, and paramedics delivered a Christmas card to Queens Park Tuesday morning.
Leaders from SEIU Healthcare, ONA, CUPE, OPSEU/ SEFPO and Unifor were also on hand to drop off the ‘all we want for Christmas’ large-size holiday card.
Unions want the premier to know frontline staff at Ontario’s hospitals are struggling with high patient levels, too low staffing, and the continuing exodus of co-workers.
The greeting card takes a light-hearted approach
The greeting card asked the premier not to move forward with an appeal of a wage-cap law called Bill 124 after the courts ruled it was unconstitutional in November.
Hospital workers called it a costly and disrespectful appeal that will result in more health care staff leaving their jobs.
The greeting card that asked the premier to refrain from appealing the Bill 124 decision is a light-hearted approach to the very serious hospital patient and staff crises Ontario faces, which the PC government has failed to take action to resolve.
