United Way Perth Huron received significant gift to help with the renovation of their new Northern Connection Centre in Wingham.

“We recently had Royal Homes and Maitland River Community Church make donations, $10,000 and $30,000 respectively,” said United Way Community Development Manager for Northern Huron Lisa Harper. “These will be going towards the capital campaign to assist with the renovations that we’re making to the site.”

Harper ways the Connection Centre will serve Howick, Morris-Turnberry and North Huron out of the new Connection Centre at St. Paul’s Trinity Anglican Church in Wingham. She says the Connection Centre will be a welcoming safe space for the communities most vulnerable residents

“They’re going to be able to access the basic needs, such as washrooms, shower facilities, a kitchen and then we’re also going to be connecting them with social services in the area and it’s making those connections that will help lift them out of the current situations that they’re in and get them into housing,” said Harper.
