OPP investigate early morning home invasion in Simcoe

Officers in Norfolk County have laid charges against a man after a frightening incident took place at a Simcoe home Thursday morning.

At around 7:50 a.m., police received a 911 call for a home invasion at an address of Norfolk Street South.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the accused is said to have forced himself into the home when he was confronted by the owner. The suspect ended up in a brawl with the homeowner, who managed to hold him down while other family members called the police.

Officers arrived soon after, and the man was arrested without incident.

The 36-year-old Norfolk County man faces several charges, including break-and-enter, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in a Simcoe court at a later date.
