Three charged after vehicle crashes into cruiser during pursuit

Woodstock police were kept busy early Friday morning during a reported break and enter involving a stolen vehicle.

Officers were called to an area near Bysham Park Drive at around 4:30 a.m. December 9 for a break-in in progress. When police arrived, members saw three suspects get into Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was reported stolen.

Police say the driver started driving the truck towards a police vehicle, before colliding with the cruiser. Both vehicles were damaged, however no injuries were reported.

After the crash, Woodstock police watched as the trio got out of the stolen truck and took off from the scene. The suspects were arrested a short time later with help from the Woodstock Police Service’s Canine Unit.

The three, ages 27, 41, and 53 face charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000; and breaking and entering. The 53-year-old was dealt additional charges of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and failing to comply with an undertaking. The 27-year-old is also accused of failing to comply and obstructing a peace officer.
