Funding grant enhances Bayfield light display

A $31,000 grant is helping to create a unique winter experience in the heart of Bayfield.

The grant to the Municipality of Bluewater hcame from the Regional Tourism Organization.

Bluewater Facilities Manager Maggie Off says they’ve used the funding to enhance the lighting display in Clan Gregor Square. About 22,000 lights are draped around several trees to create a beautiful, magical display that she says they’re hoping people will want to check out this winter.

“We want to keep it running all the way through to February,” Off said. “You know winter can drag on and so we just wanted to create a space for people to go through during those dark evenings just to enjoy a nice stroll in the park and take some photos and enjoy their time outside.”

Off says they’ve also created two selfie stations in the park for photo opportunities. She says the lights are turned on a six each evening and turned off around 12:30 in the morning.
