Two London-area vaccine clinics to close by end of the year

Local public health officials are making some changes at a pair of mass vaccination clinics within the community.

On Thursday, the Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) announced daily hours at its vaccine clinic at the Caradoc Community Centre in Mount Brydges will change starting November 28. Instead of a Monday through Friday schedule, the clinic will operate just three days per week from Monday to Wednesday. The hours will remain the same, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally, the health unit said the Mount Brydges clinic and the Westmount Shopping Centre clinic will soon be closed permanently ahead of the new year. Those thinking about getting a primary or booster COVID-19 shot at the Caradoc Community Centre Clinic will have until Wednesday, December 14 to do so.

Residents in the area of southwest London thinking will have a little longer to attend the Westmount clinic as it’s scheduled to  shutdown after Christmas on Friday, December 30. Walk-in appointments are available there weekly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., however it will be closed on December 24.

“While the Caradoc Community Centre and Westmount Shopping Centre clinics will be closing next month, the Health Unit will continue to offer both primary and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the foreseeable future at its Western Fair COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic,” a statement from the health unit read.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available at a number of local pharmacies. Health officials say vaccination is the best defence against the illnesses that go around this time of year.

“With COVID-19 continuing to circulate at the same time as other respiratory illnesses, the Health Unit is reminding the community that vaccination is the most effective way to stay healthy as we head toward the Holiday season,” the statement read.
