A London man faces several weapons-related charges after police seized an illegal firearm and ammunition from a home in the city’s southwest end.
On Thursday, officers with London Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Section, Emergency Response Unit, and Canine Unit conducted a search at a residence near Viscount Road and Andover Drive. Officers seized a Savage Model 64F .22 calibre semi-automatic long rifle, 68 rounds of ammunition, and a loaded .22 calibre magazine.
A 26-year-old London man now faces several charges including:
• Storing a firearm, prohibited firearm or prohibited device in a careless manner
• Storing ammunition in a careless manner
• Possessing a firearm while knowingly not being the licence holder
• Possessing a firearm, other than restricted or prohibited, while knowingly not being the licence holder
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited
The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
