Obituary – Doris Young

DORIS YOUNG

Doris Edith Young (née Bradley), of Concession 2, Tiverton, passed away at the Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton on Oct. 21, 2022 in her 82nd year.
Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernie in 2018, after 60 years of marriage.
She is survived by her sons: Jim (Rose Marie) and Bill (Nancy), both of Tiverton, Brian (Kathryn) of Kincardine and Roger (Caroline) of Port Elgin and by her daughter June (Laverne) Walker of Fort MacMurray, AB.
She will be greatly missed her grandchildren: Amy (Andrew) Hallman, Corey Young, Ashley (Christian) Droefke, Devon (Rachael) Young, Caitlin Young (Kevin Ribey), Cristina (Colby) Bellan, Brandie (Steve) Bernard, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Young, Samantha (Jon) Hootnick, Jacob Walker and Dylan Young. Also missed by her great-grandchildren: Mya and Emma Hallman, Alexander Droefke, Lucy Young, Madilynn Ribey, Ed and John Bellan, Colton and Kensington Bernard, Kaydence and Nash Young, Olivia and Anna Hootnick.
She is also survived by her brother Gordon (Lois) Bradley of Kincardine, son-in-law David Mackereth of Owen Sound and brother-in-law Bill Young, of Creston, B.C., as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Stuart and Irene (Henry) Bradley, daughter Linda Mackereth, grandson Aaron Walker, and great-granddaughter Blayre Bernard. Also predeceased by her in-laws Louie (Adam) Armour, June (Alvin) Filsinger and Zita Young.
Doris grew up on a farm east of Tiverton. She lived her married life on Concession 2 of Bruce Township. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life-long member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, where she was a faithful member of the choir.
Visitation took place on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, where the funeral service to honour Doris’ life was also held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, with Rev. Richard Warne officiating.
Interment Tiverton Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Huron Shores Hospice or Canadian Cancer Society were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
