Emergency crews are asking the public to avoid a stretch of Talbot Street near downtown due to natural gas leak in the area.
Officials with the London Fire Department sent out a tweet just before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon that said emergency crews were called to natural gas leak on the corner of Oxford and Talbot streets. The leak is reportedly at the southeast corner of the intersection.
As a result, Oxford was closed to traffic. It has since re-opened, but Talbot is closed just south of Oxford. Pedestrians are also asked to steer clear of the scene.
Enbridge Gas technicians are on the scene working to stop the leak. There is no word yet as to when the area will be reopened.
More to come.
