A decision to pick up a scratch ticket at their local variety store quite literally paid off for two Londoners.
Wedad Beniamin won $50,000 on a “Quest for Gold” Crossword ticket, a game the scratch ticket fan said she frequently plays.
“I was playing my ticket, and when I uncovered that final vowel, I thought I won $5,000,” Beniamin said. “I checked it using the OLG App and realized I won $50,000 – I couldn’t believe it!”
Beniamin said she created quite a commotion when she discovered her big win.
“I started jumping up and down and screaming! My neighbours had to come check on me to see if I was okay,” Beniamin said. “I sent a screenshot of the win to my boyfriend, and he couldn’t believe it. He is so happy for me!”
When asked about what she plans to do with her winnings, Beniamin said she plans to put a down payment on a house, take her children on a trip, and treat the rest of her family to a nice dinner.
Elsewhere in the Forest City, another woman is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win. Roxanna Bailey, who said she’d been an avid lotto for the last three decades, earned her prize on a Bingo ticket.
“I was at home playing my ticket when I realized I had three numbers left to match. When all three numbers came up, I screamed! I was shocked!” said Bailey.
Bailey said her shrieking led her grandchildren to come rushing into the room to check on her. She said they could hardly believe it either and helped her double-check her ticket.
The first thing Bailey would like to buy with her winnings is something that will make her life a little easier.
“I’d like to get a new dishwasher and treat myself to a little shopping spree. I will also share some with my daughters,” Bailey said.
Both of the winning tickets were purchased at Circle K locations in London. Beniamin’s was purchased on First Street, while Bailey’s was purchased on Trafalgar Street.
