Voting turnout strong on first weekend of municipal election in Owen Sound

Voting for the municipal election is underway in many municipalities across midwestern Ontario.

A number of municipalities opened the system to cast ballots online and by phone as of October 14, 2022.

A Voter Information Letter is required to vote and includes voting instructions, a personal identification number and the list of candidates. Voter Information Letters should have been received by now.

In Owen Sound, more than 1,400 voters, or 8.6% of eligible voters, have cast their ballots for the Municipal and School Board Election since the opening of the voting period.

The City of Owen Sound has set up various Election Help Centres which are available throughout the voting period

At the Election Help Centre, voters can register to vote, add or amend their information, and vote in person. Voters need to bring their Voter Information Letter or a piece of identification to the Election Help Centre.
