The Seaforth Community Hospital representative for this year’s CKNX Radiothon says part of the event is a contest inviting people of all ages to submit a brief summary of why they think their hospital is the best.
Wendy Hutton says the contest is open to everyone, but she suspects most of the entries will come from children. So if they go to the hospital for something like a broken arm, they could write a little note of about a hundred words, about how the doctors were nice to them and they didn’t hurt them too much and they got to pick the colour of their cast and that sort of thing.
Hutton says there are eight hospitals involved from Clinton, Hanover, Listowel, Mount Forest, Seaforth, Palmerston, Walkerton and Wingham.
“Kids like to tell their little stories and then they get a prize. So on the seventh of October, the stories will be reviewed by a committee and they will pick the winner and it will be announced on air at CKNX on October 15,” Hutton added.
The first prize is a tablet, valued at 380 dollars, provided by MicroAge Basics in Hanover and they’re also providing four 25 dollar gift cards.
“So if you go to the hospital, like you broke your arm, and you go and you could write a little note about how the doctors were nice to you and they didn’t hurt you too much and you got to pick the colour of your cast and all that sort of thing. That’s always nice to hear,” shared Hutton.
Hutton says people submit their applications by emailing them to wdhfoundation@sbghc.on.ca or they can enter online at wwwcknx.ca. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 7.
