A man and a woman face charges after a search turned up a number of illegal drugs, weapons and cash at a home in southeast London.
Members of the London Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Section, Emergency Response and Canine units attended a property on Vermont Avenue Thursday morning to conduct a search warrant. During the raid officers seized a number of items including:
• Bolt action .22 sawed off shotgun with pistol grip.
• Replica .38 revolver.
• 19 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition.
• Four rounds of .223 calibre ammunition.
• 43 grams of suspected cocaine, valued at $4,300.
• One gram of suspected heroin, valued at $250.
• $345.00 in cash.
• One magazine for a .45 calibre firearm.
As a result, a 62-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both of London, are jointly charged with
• Two (2) counts of careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
• Possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence.
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or prohibited device.
• Possessing a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm.
The man faces an additional three charges of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, and the woman was additionally charged with breach of probation.
Both of the accused were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
