If you’ve planned to spend some time outdoors this long weekend, you may want to take a rain check.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning Sunday afternoon, stating slow-moving showers and thunderstorms could cause significant amounts of rain throughout the evening.
The warning was issued for Middlesex and Elgin County, Strathroy, Kamoka, Rodney, and Shedden.
Meteorologists predict rainfall amounts could reach between 50-70 millimetres by Sunday night.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
