A crash between an electric bike and a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer in Elgin County sent one person to hospital in life-threatening condition on Thursday.
The vehicles collided at Lyons Line and Whittaker Road, in Malahide Township just after 7 a.m.
The force of the crash caused the truck to roll and hit a hydro pole. The horse that was inside the trailer escaped, but was later located on the road.
The operator of the e-bike was taken to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries, while the truck driver and the horse suffered minor injuries.
The intersection was expected to remain closed for much of the day while police investigated the cause of the crash.
