A prominent Woodstock doctor wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for child pornography offences has been arrested.
Woodstock police took Dr. Robert Stern into custody on Monday.
Police had been searching for the 58-year-old since an arrest warrant on charges of distributing, possessing, and accessing child pornography was issued for him late last month.
The charges were laid after investigators with the Woodstock police internet child exploitation unit and criminal investigations bureau seized devices from a home in the city on July 7.
Stern began practicing as a family physician in Woodstock in 1991 and had privileges at Woodstock hospital until 2014. In the past, he also served as the president of the Oxford County medical society. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario previously confirmed that Stern is no longer practicing medicine.
Stern is being held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
