Jumpstart month puts over $7,000 back into the community

By Hannah MacLeod

June is Jumpstart month at Canadian Tire, and this year Kincardine raised a whopping $7,350.
Money raised through Jumpstart provides youth with opportunities to get active that they wouldn’t otherwise have whether it be due to accessibility or financial struggles.
Since 2005, Jumpstart has given more than 2.7 million children equal access to sport and play. Over 600 of those children are from the Kincardine area, where over $106,000 has been raised.
All money raised through the Jumpstart program stays in the community it was raised and 100 per-cent of the proceeds go to the cause.
Financially, the program can help cover the costs of registration or equipment fees. They are also working to increase accessibility by building 25 accessible play spaces such as playgrounds and multi sport courts in communities across Canada by the end of 2022.
To donate to the Jumpstart program, shoppers can bring money or cheques to the till at Canadian Tire. To inquire about registration and assistance visit the Rec department at the Davidson Centre or visit Jumpstart.ca/childgrants or call 1-844-YES-PLAY
