We were all excited about the Toronto Blue Jays at the start of the season. The New York Yankees have been unbelievable this season, making it hard for the Blue Jays to capture the American League East Championship. The Yankees look so good right now.
Sometimes coaching changes work and other times, they make no difference. John Schneider replaced Charlie Montoya a couple of weeks ago and the Blue Jays have been on a winning streak ever since.
John has worked his way thru the Blue Jays system as a coach. He started with the Blue Jays as a catching instructor in 2008. After that, he coached the rookie league Gulf Coast team for 4 seasons. In 2016, he was promoted to the Single A Lansing Lugnuts. In 2017, the Blue Jays won their first Florida State League Championship with Schneider as their manager.
In 2018, he was promoted to Double A New Hampshire where he was the winning Manager again and had many current Blue Jays on that team.
In 2019, John was promoted to the Toronto Blue Jays coaching staff. At the start of 2022, he was promoted to Blue Jays Assistant Bench Coach.
You can already tell he has a different approach to managing. He has changed the batting order and he seems to handle his pitching differently. Managing the Bullpen will either make or break many managers. Some never figure it out. Ex-Blue Jay Manager John Gibbons was really good at handling his bullpen pitchers.
Just a reminder that there is a celebrity hockey game at the Davidson Centre on August 5th at 7 pm. Kevin Pollock will be the referee and Pat and Larry Riggin will be on opposite benches coaching against each other. Kendra Fisher will be strapping the pads on along with Morgan Baker, Tyler Murray and Ryan McDonald. Margo Page who started with the Tiverton Reds and later on with Team Canada, will suit up for the game. It should be a fun family night at the arena. Tickets are on sale at the Davidson Centre and Grey Matter.
The Kincardine Bulldogs have two exhibition games at home in August. They play Goderich at home on August 23rd at 8 pm and August 24th at home vs Exeter at 8 pm. On September 10th , the Bulldogs host Mount Forest, Exeter and Wellesley in an exhibition day in Kincardine.
