Multiple fire trucks needed to douse St. Thomas house fire

St. Thomas firefighters had to work quickly Wednesday morning to keep a house fire from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at a home near the corner of Manitoba and Kains streets around 5 a.m. Firefighters used multiple hoses and an aerial truck to work to extinguish the fire. Homes on the street are located relatively close so there was concern the fire could spread.

People were asked to avoid the area while crews worked.

No injuries have been reported and there is no word on the extent of the damage.

Fire officials will be on scene throughout the rest of the morning probing the cause of the fire.
