Two drivers sent to hospital after crash on Littlewood Drive

A two-vehicle crash just outside of London Wednesday afternoon has sent a pair to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened on Littlewood Drive between Cook Road and Westdel Bourne shortly after 3 p.m. according to OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.

Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with police from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Elgin-St.Thomas EMS, the London Fire Department, Middlesex-London Paramedic Services, and Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police responded to the scene.

London firefighters assisted with extrication, and both drivers were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“It’s a beautiful day so we’re asking everyone to please make sure they are paying attention to their surroundings, focussing 110 per cent of their driving ability, making sure they get to where they’re going safely,” Sanchuk said in a video posted on Twitter.

The area was closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the scene and police investigated the cause of the crash. The roadway reopened at around 5 p.m.
